| July 29 | The Workers' Compensation Commission held an open meeting to take final action on amendments to Regulation .25 under COMAR 14.09.01 (Procedural Regulations) and Regulations .01 through .06 under COMAR 14.09.08 (Open Meetings) on July 24, 2003. The proposed amendments were adopted and will be published in the August 8, 2003 issue of the MD Register. The regulations become effective August 18, 2003 |

Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) 2004:
Section 9-638 of the Labor and Employment Article provides for an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) for compensation paid under Subtitle V to covered employees with a permanent total disability. The COLA provision became effective January 1, 1988 and is only payable for an accidental injury or occupational disease sustained on or after January 1, 1988. The cost of living adjustment that will become effective on January 1, 2004 is 1.6%. Use Adjudication/Claims > MD Compensation Rates navigation to print the PDF document covering 1988-2004.
Mileage Reimbursement: The mileage reimbursement rate remains $0.34 per mile for FY 2004, as stated by the Maryland Department of Budget & Management. |
